Alex Nazaretski is an award-winning guitarist, pianist, and composer based in Rochester, NY. Renowned for his distinctive musical voice, he seamlessly bridges genres and traditions with a compelling artistic vision.

Alex’s journey in music began at the age of five with the piano, but it wasn’t until several years later that the guitar truly determined his path as a musician. Initially drawn to metal, his exploration of the instrument deepened into a profound reverence for classical music, ultimately leading him to study at the Eastman School of Music as a classical guitarist.

Before attending Eastman, Alex trained under David Galvez, a distinguished guitarist based in New York City, and later studied with acclaimed Canadian guitarist Drew Henderson. In 2020, he began his studies at Eastman, earning his Bachelor of Music in 2024 and continuing into the Master’s program under the renowned Professor Nicholas Goluses. His piano studies with Kevin Lee Sun further enriched his understanding of pianism, shaping his multidimensional approach to music.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Alex has maintained an active performance schedule, presenting concert programs across Rochester and beyond. He has received recognition in numerous competitions, including the Houston Classical Guitar Festival, the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Competition, Eastman’s Guitar Concerto Competition, and the Buffalo International Guitar Festival & Competition. His excellence was acknowledged with Eastman’s prestigious Performer’s Certificate.

In summer 2024, Alex was selected as one of only four guitarists worldwide for the Ex-Aequo artist residency in Austin, Texas, where he performed and recorded professionally.

Alex has participated in masterclasses with legendary guitarists such as Paul Galbraith, Thomas Viloteau, Matthew McAllister, Allan Neave, and David Russell.

Beyond his achievements as a performer, Alex is a dedicated composer. Influenced by his metal roots and classical training, his compositions blend hypnotic sounds with intricate rhythmic structures. He has written extensively for solo guitar and piano, as well as chamber ensembles, and has received commissions for his music, including from the Kacherski-Morita duo who will premiere his new work “A Beckoning” in Houston, Texas. His upcoming album will feature all original compositions in a variety of instrumentations from piano trio to solo eight string guitar. Beyond that, he is the founder of the technical death metal band Isomorphist which has released their debut EP “Iridescence” on all streaming platforms.
